Some Updates and Changes Are in the Works
This week’s blog post will be a little different than previous ones. Essentially, it’ll be a brief overview of plans I have in the works. Plans that will bring changes to my website, blog, newsletter, and social media.
For some reason, summer is always a time I want to sit back, relax, and reevaluate the things in my life. I blame the heat. I’m not a hot weather person. While I love spending a day or two at the pool, the minute we reach 80 degrees, I’m ready for 60. And so I use this time to get some stuff in order.
One of the things I like to evaluate every few months is my online presence. That’s where the bulk of these changes are going to take place.
Here’s how my online presence is going to change in the coming weeks
Website
I’ve redone my website a thousand times and I know I’ll redo it at least a dozen more. But over the rest of the summer, I’m going to turn it into something I can be proud of for a while. Something that will reflect my current writing stance and my mission.
I also have a secret project in the works that I should be able to talk about in a few days. I’m putting the final touches on it now and my website will definitely need to include that.
My goal is to make my website a simple one-stop-shop for all things me. I want to remove unnecessary fluff and give you the information you need.
If you want to be one of the first to know what this secret project is, sign up for my email list. They get exclusive dibs and will hear about it before anyone else.
Blog
I love sharing value with my readers and my blog is my favorite way to do that. However, I’m going to turn the focus more onto writing-related topics than simple living.
Simple living is still an important subject to me so there will be a few posts about them tossed into the mix, especially if it pertains to writing.
Ever since I became a minimalist and simple living enthusiast, I’ve brought the practice into my writing life and it has changed my process for the better. So I’ll be sure to plan some posts on how you too can apply simple and intentional living into your writing practice.
While I readjust some topics and brainstorm the new schedule, I may not have new posts every week. Once everything is updated, we’ll be back to weekly posts.
Newsletter
I’ve been told by a few people that they love getting the Weekly Intentional Newsletter. That’s amazing! It’s my way to share a bit of motivation and wisdom each week.
But as I shift to more writer-focused tips, the Weekly Intentional Newsletter will get a bit of an upgrade.
There will come a time when my newsletter becomes a monthly email rather than weekly, but until then it will continue to hit your inbox on Tuesday mornings.
The content and title will most likely change. But I’ll offer more than just motivation and wisdom. I want to share my writing process and any tips I pick up along the way. It’ll also become my place to share more about my secret project and any other future plans.
I didn’t think I would enjoy writing weekly emails but I actually do. In fact, I prefer it over social media, which we’ll talk about in a second.
I would love to have you be a part of my community. So if you haven’t already, sign up here or check out my Free Resources and get a little something for signing up. Those resources may disappear soon so take advantage while you can.
Social Media
I’m very candid about my love/hate — mostly hate — feelings toward social media. The boundaries I’ve recently set around it have been incredibly helpful for my mental health. But I do want to be a bit more active. At least, I want to share more insights and updates with my followers.
I’m most active on Instagram. The only other platform I’m on is LinkedIn, though I check that one sporadically. I also have Pinterest, which will play a major role in my secret project.
With that said, I’m going to try and post at least three times a week. I want to use Stories to share writing updates and more, but Reels is still something I’m going to steer away from. If I create a few along the way, great, but I refuse to cater to an algorithm that doesn’t serve me.
Any Reels I create will lean towards the motivational/inspirational side. Something I can create in five minutes on Canva, lol.
But I’m also not going to force myself to do something I don’t want to do. If posting three times a week becomes too much, I’ll take a step back. Balance is key and that’s what I’m aiming to create with these updates to my online presence.
My goal is to get all of this updated and finished by September 1, though with my vacation planned in mid-August, I may have to push that deadline back a week or two.
As human beings, we’re constantly changing and evolving and I believe our online presence should reflect that. Do I hope that one day I won’t have to worry about making changes? Absolutely and I know there will come a time when I won’t have to.
But until then, I want to ensure I’m sharing value and a little bit of personality in my online presence. That’s what I want to represent in these upcoming changes and I can’t wait for you to see what I have in store.
As one more gentle reminder, sign up for my email list so you don’t miss a thing. And feel free to follow me on Instagram. You can help hold me accountable to my new posting schedule when I start it.
